Paint shop locations/painting guides to some of the less/known countries in the world. A note – when I say ‘good cans’ , it refers to brands like MTN, Loop, Belton etc…

Afghanistan

Only cheap cans. Was stopped randomly by Taliban, they like to keep tabs on which tourists are in the country, they use an app to share info. Probably not a good idea for a foreigner to get caught painting as they wont understand it/think it’s something else perhaps?

Albania

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Algeria

Has graffiti scene. Used to be able to get good cans, not currently?

Andorra

Tiny country, still has graffiti scene. Bring your cans in from Spain or France.

Angola

Has graffiti scene in Luanda. Can’t really get good cans, although local artists/writers sometimes may have cans brought in overland.

Antigua and Barbuda

Couldn’t find any good cans. Not really any graffiti scene.

Argentina

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Armenia

Somewhat of a graffiti scene. Can buy Beltons in Yerevan from a shop that just comes up as ‘Art’ on Google but they are expensive. Bring cans in overland from Georgia if you want to save money.

Australia

Big graffiti scene. Melbourne is the best city to visit.

Austria

Good graffiti scene/good cans, standard European country.

Azerbaijan

Can buy MTN cans from ECAZ Art & Hobby Shop. Little bit of a graffiti scene in Baku, although painting is usually in hidden spots. Be cautious, not exactly a chill country, probably don’t want to be caught here.

Bahamas

Can get American brands like Rust-Oleum here – bring your cap adapter. Not much of a graffiti scene.

Bahrain

Can buy MTN at a shop called ColorMaze. Mostly legal artists here.

Bangladesh

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Barbados

Some graffiti/stickers from tourists. Couldn’t find good cans here.

Belarus

Can get good cans from a shop called ‘Art Market’ in Minsk. Decent-sized graffiti scene, get out of the city center to find cool spots.

Belgium

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Belize

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Benin

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here. Bring cans overland from Ghana.

Bolivia

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

Good graffiti scene/good cans, standard European country.

Botswana

Didn’t observe any graffiti scene. Bring cans in on the bus from South Africa.

Brazil

HUGE graffiti scene, especially Sao Paulo. I got stopped by police twice in a couple days, wasn’t as chill to paint as I had imagined I guess.

Brunei

Can get good cans from a shop called Guerilla ARTchitects. Only place I really saw graffiti was the skatepark which is a legal spot.

Bulgaria

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Burkina Faso

Handful of local legal artists. Can’t get good paint here, can bring it overland from Ghana.

Burundi

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Cabo Verde

Little bits of graffiti from tourists. Can get okay paint from the hardware store.

Cambodia

Bit of a graffiti scene, mostly from tourists it seems. Can’t get good paint here.

Cameroon

Didn’t observe any graffiti scene. There is a paint brand called Asmaco which is decent.

Canada

Several graffiti shops in the city, can get Rust-Oleum in places like Walmart and Home Depot, but it’s far more expensive than the US.

Central African Republic

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Chad

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Chile

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans.

China

There’s a graffiti shop called ‘400ml’ in Beijing and one called ‘Still Writing’ in Chengdu. Hong Kong is far better/chiller to paint than mainland China, lots of graffiti there.

Colombia

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Comoros

Little bit of graffiti, mostly from tourists. Can get Asmaco paint which is decent, but when I visited, there were very limited stock/colours.

Congo, Democratic Republic of the

Can get good paint from the GG Mart although it is VERY expensive. There are some local legal artists/writers. Didn’t observe any real graffiti scene.

Congo, Republic of the

Didn’t observe any graffiti scene. Can get Asmaco paint here which is decent. Or bring paint in from DRC!

Costa Rica

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Cote d’Ivoire

One of the only countries in sub-Saharan Africa with a real street graffiti scene. Can get Asmaco paint here which is decent. Or bring in MTN over the border from Ghana!

Croatia

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Cuba

Big graffiti scene in Havana, lots of American writers sneak in cans in checked luggage. Can buy cans in the hardware stores despite some sources online saying spray paint is banned in the country.

Cyprus

Good to paint, can get good cans.

Czech Republic

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Denmark

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Djibouti

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Dominica

Couldn’t find any good cans, some graffiti in Roseau from tourists.

Dominican Republic

Can get good cans from Erredé Store. Fairly big graffiti scene.

Ecuador

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans from a shop called Black Book in Quito.

Egypt

No real graffiti scene, but can buy Montana Gold in Cairo. Get in touch with @montanacansegypt on Instagram

El Salvador

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, but I didn’t find anywhere to buy good cans

Equatorial Guinea

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Eritrea

Can get Asmaco paint here, which is decent. Didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Estonia

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Fiji

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Finland

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

France

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans. Marseille in particular is good.

Gabon

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Gambia

Couldn’t find any good cans, bit of graffiti from tourists in Banjul. Bring in paint on the bus from Senegal!

Georgia

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Germany

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Ghana

Can buy MTN from a shop called Acrylix. Closed on Sundays. Didn’t observe any real graffiti scene.

Greece

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans. Athens is insanely painted.

Grenada

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Guatemala

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans from a shop called District78.

Guinea

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Guinea-Bissau

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Guyana

Some graffiti from tourists, but not much of a scene compared to other South American countries. Couldn’t find any good cans.

Haiti

Some legal artists in Port-au-Prince. Can’t get good cans, bring in over the border from DR if it’s open.

Honduras

Decent to paint, didn’t find anywhere to get good cans.

Hungary

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Iceland

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

India

Some graffiti from tourists, not much of a graffiti scene though. Can get good cans in some cities, search up @flamepaintindia on Instagram

Indonesia

Big graffiti scene, many graffiti shops and local brands of paint too.

Iran

Bit of a graffiti scene in Tehran. Can get good cans, there is a local brand called Takgol. Contact @takgolcans on Instagram. There is an awesome drainage canal system where graffiti is ‘tolerated’ at the end of Arghavan St in Sa’adat Abad.

Iraq

Small graffiti scene. Can get good cans, contact @anunakiz.iq on Instagram

Ireland

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Israel

Big graffiti scene, good to paint.

Italy

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Jamaica

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Japan

Big graffiti scene, but more-so stickers/tags than spray paint. Have heard several accounts of tourists getting jailed for street painting here, be cautious.

Jordan

Tiny bit of a graffiti scene in Amman. Can’t get good cans here, bring some in from Israel!

Kazakhstan

Decent-sized graffiti scene. Can get cans from ‘Repas’ in Almaty and ‘717 Graffiti Shop’ in Astana.

Kenya

Can get good cans from ‘Eva’s Nairobi Art Supplies’. Not really a real street graffiti scene.

Kiribati

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Kosovo

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans from a shop called Box 01 in Prishtina.

Kuwait

Can get good cans from ‘Kuz Store’, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Kyrgyzstan

Little bit of a graffiti scene, couldn’t find any good cans. Bring some in from Kazahkstan!

Laos

Couldn’t find any good cans, bit of graffiti from tourists.

Latvia

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans from a shop called ‘Tribal’ in Riga.

Lebanon

Decent-sized graffiti scene. There is a shop in Beirut you can buy MTN at called, search up “l’architecte furn el chubak” on Google.

Lesotho

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here. Bring in overland from Joburg!

Liberia

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Libya

Not yet visited.

Liechtenstein

Very small landlocked country, can find some spots. Bring in paint from Switzerland!

Madagascar

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Malawi

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Malaysia

Big graffiti scene, can get good cans.

Maldives

Can get good cans here from Procure Plus and Ace Hardware in Malé. There is a huge abandoned building to paint on the beach in Hulhumalé. Can’t miss it. Didn’t observe any real graffiti scene otherwise.

Mali

Can get Asmaco paint here, which is decent. Didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Malta

Standard European country, good to paint, I bought good cans by meeting up with the local distributor. Try to contact them on +356 9945 6835

Marshall Islands

No real graffiti scene, but can buy Rust-Oleum at Ace Hardware. Expensive.

Mauritania

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Mauritius

Small graffiti scene, can get good cans from ‘Island Art Supplies’ in Port Louis.

Mexico

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Micronesia

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Moldova

Decent-sized graffiti scene. Can get good cans from a shop in Chișinău called Crafti.

Monaco

Tiny, wealthy micronation. Didn’t find anywhere to get good cans, no real graffiti scene.

Mongolia

Decent-sized graffiti scene in Ulaabaatar. You can get good cans from ‘911 Graffiti Shop’ which is behind a cafe. Search up ‘Phresh Cafe’ and you enter the store through there, tell the person at the counter you are there to buy the paint.

Montenegro

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Morocco

Decent sized graffiti scene. Can buy Beltons from a shop called Dalbe in Casablanca.

Mozambique

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Myanmar

Bit of a graffiti scene. There is a graffiti shop called Undercity, unsure if they are still open, try messaging the socials.

Namibia

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Nauru

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here besides one foreigner who had pieces painted around the island.

Nepal

Bit of a graffiti scene in Kathmandu. See if you can organize buying cans from @bannaspraysnepal on Instagram.

Netherlands

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

New Zealand

Big graffiti scene, can get good cans.

Nicaragua

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, couldn’t find anywhere to get good cans.

Niger

Not yet visited.

Nigeria

Can get good cans at Arteasy in Lagos. Didn’t observe any real graffiti scene.

North Korea

Not yet visited, I don’t think I will have much to add when I do go.

North Macedonia

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Norway

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Oman

No real graffiti scene, but some really cool spots wandering the wadis. There’s a couple paint distributors in Muscat, contact @paintgree , @hoodstore_om or @mulk.me on Instagram. Otherwise you can buy European acrylic spray paint from the art/stationary stores in the city, but it is VERY expensive.

Pakistan

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any real graffiti scene here.

Palau

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Palestine

Good to paint the West Bank wall and surrounding areas – although I hope one day they tear down the wall Inshallah. Bought paint from ‘The Walled Off Hotel’.

Panama

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Papua New Guinea

Big graffiti scene, local kids love to tag absolutely everything. Extreme punishments for people caught painting here, people get their fingers cut off, eyeballs sprayed, it’s no joke. I bought Aussie export cans here, you’re legally meant to own a business or something to buy spray paint because the government is trying to curb graffiti. Exercise extreme caution in this country, very dangerous.

Paraguay

There is a graffiti shop w next to Cafe Consulado in the city center. They randomly open whenever the guy decides to come, can be several hours after the signposted times. You can also get paint at the AGA Colors. Good country to paint.

Peru

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Philippines

Big graffiti scene, several graffiti shops.

Poland

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Portugal

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Qatar

Can get MTN here, didn’t observe any graffiti scene.

Romania

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Russia

Good to paint, can get good cans.

Rwanda

Can buy MTN at Touba quincaillerie générale in Dakar. Shake these cans well, they have travelled a long way and are prone to being clogged. There is a ton of graffiti on the main road along a specific stretch, but not much else is painted in the city.

Serbia

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Seychelles

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Sierra Leone

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Singapore

You can buy paint from ‘The Blackbook Studio’, but there is no real street graffiti scene. Be cautious if painting here, very strict country.

Slovakia

Slovenia

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Solomon Islands

Somalia

South Africa

HUGE graffiti scene, biggest on the continent. A few different graffiti shops in the country.

South Korea

Big graffiti scene, can get good cans.

South Sudan

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here. Was stopped several times and questioned just walking around.

Spain

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Sri Lanka

Bit of a graffiti scene. Nippon lazer paint is better than the other brands.

Not much of a graffiti scene, couldn’t find any good cans.

Uganda

Not really any graffiti scene, if you contact the Eva’s Art Supplies in Nairobi on WhatsApp, they can deliver cans to you from Kenya for a charge.

Ukraine

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans.

United Arab Emirates

Can buy good cans here, not much of a real graffiti scene.

United Kingdom

Standard European country, good to paint, can get good cans. Buying MTN from a non-graffiti shop like HobbyCraft is VERY expensive.

USA

Good to paint, Rust-Oleum is the main brand many people use, can get everywhere, in Walmart, Home Depot etc… You may recognize the Krylon brand from old graffiti documentaries/videos, but it sucks now, much worse than Rust-Oleum.

Uruguay

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans.

Uzbekistan

Can get good cans at a shop called DecorPaint in Tashkent. No graffiti scene, and a very authoritarian government, be very cautious.

Vanuatu

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Vatican City

Yeah… Don’t paint here.

Venezuela

Standard Latin-American country, good to paint, can get good cans from a shop called Prodippers Pinturas. It’s upstairs, inside a bigger building.

Vietnam

Big graffiti scene, Nippon cans are the most used here it seems. Have heard that there’s been a recent crackdown on graffiti though.

Yemen

Not yet visited.

Zambia

Couldn’t find any good cans, didn’t observe any graffiti scene here.

Zimbabwe
